after I've successfully got XDirectFB to run and mplayer with "-vo dfbmga" to output the video data to the second head of my G400, I've tried to use mplayer with "-vo directfb" to display any video to my primary display.
Try "-vo dfbmga:bes".
Unfortunately the unused bands above and below the 16:9 movie are not cleared to black, but instead the background from the window manager is still visible. 8-/
Unfortunately, this does not work properly for me. After playing a 16:9 video on my 4:3 monitor, the part were the video window was located is not properly restored. The area stays black and covers the mouse pointer. Only in small bands above and below the video window the window manager is present, so I can at least close the session properly.
Big TODO item: Cleanup display layers after usage.
Workaround: "dfblayer -l 1 -o 0".
Ok, thanks. Unfortunately (and I did not notice this before), the problem with the unused bands exists here, too. Although the bands are cleared to black, timed updates from the window manager (ie. clocks, network usage, ...) become visible after some time.
But I guess these are problems of "mplayer". Perhaps a black layer/surface should be put behind the video window to prevent this?
CU Michael.
