Hey there everyone, Firstly thanks for taking the time to write all this exicting software! being able to get such fantastic ouput on a budget system really keeps me happy through these dark days...of trying to get the thing working! :-) nvidia and ati's output is laughable in comparison.
I've been struggling with other things lately - VDR/softdevice - but I only ever got DirectFB G450 output working by an accident, and now I want to start again and get some solid knowledge behind me before I try going further than just testing the directfb-examples binaries. To your knowledge, is there one source of instructions on this subject that jumps out at being the best to follow? Can I have a link to it? The most satisfying peice of writing I found was Pekka Tiittanen and Ville Syrjälä's HOWTO here: http://www.kauhajoki.fi/~peti/directfb/matrox-tv-out-howto, Is this still a viable option to me? As a newcomer to linux I'm primarily concerened about all the unknowns: - Should I use a 2.4 kernel and the exact driver versions/patches stated in the howto? - Is there a more recent combination that is known to work with a Matrox 16MB G450 card? - Is there an archive of the mailing lists that I can search? I'm sorry if the answer to these questions is there, believe me I've done a lot of searching before I've come to ask a question.
