Have you found http://www.dirvish.org/ ? Most things are documented there although it can take some time to fully understand the implications of some of the options etc. In particular tree: and the colon is described in http://www.dirvish.org/dirvish.conf.5.html There's a hint there that it might be useful to also become familiar with the rsync documentation. That turns out to be very important! Please post your actual config files etc if you need more specific help.
