Hi Patrick,

Yes it can still be built with gcc and I believe the Arch release still uses it so that it can use the default GNUstep base. From what I have heard, performance is better for the clang version.

May I ask why you want to continue building it with gcc rather than clang? The reason I ask is that I had been considering whether the game should become clang only to allow usage of Objective-C syntax improvements in the modern clang runtime.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi all,

I want to thank the developers of GNUstep for their help as I attempted to modernise Oolite and move it from gcc to clang.

Could we still build it with GNU runtime?

The culmination of that effort is that Oolite has been released on both the Microsoft Store (https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nbhls7xql21) and FlatHub (https://flathub.org/apps/space.oolite.Oolite).

We welcome new developers to take the game forward as well as contributors to expansions, graphics, documentation etc.

Cheers,
Mike
