I'm not complaining. Jon was a great guy - but like any efficient
programmer his naming conventions for the root lacked any
imagination. Example - the ccTLD's are nothing more then an ISO
maintenance list - and there's very little imagination in the labels com
org and net. Those labels were simply to serve specific purposes and
lacked the imagination in nameing space that the worlds users are
demanding.
I'm exactly the same as postel when it comes to nameing conventions. It's
easier to write dot.ca instead of dot.canadian - but my preferences are
not user preferences. Users have alot of imagination when it comes to
nameing conventions - and if given a chance they will take advantage of it
- i give as evidence for that dot.moo and dot.god.

they are now ICANN - just check the names of the people involved. new
approach - same faces.
