Ok, the .moo's been fixed.  The problem was this:

We run two databases - one for Registry, one for Registrar...

The Registry portion had kacked a bit - after all, we're not running a
world class Database Management System for something that's more a proof
of concept :)

The technology bits worked - the database didn't.  It's been tweaked and
things are running again :)

If this were a live system, we'd pour the resources into have a real DB
backend - as it is, this all runs on one box (we're not talking millions
of domains and thousands of transactions all the time to maintain) :)
