Expiration of domains: loss of functionality ?

Hello,

I would like to know if there is any loss of functionality at the reseller or
end-user  interface for domains that have expired:

- Can we still renew them with the reseller interface ?
- Can they be managed with the end-user interface (including ownership
transfers) ?
- Can they be REGISTERED by someone else before the 40 days delay mentioned in
other posts ? The FAQ seems to suggest that they can

Thanks for any information on this or pointers to the docs, which I searched
without luck.
