Which only excludes you from the "normal" public directory and
directory assistance.  Your information is still normally available
via other directories, such as the reverse directories published by
both the phone companies and third parties.

And I disagree with the analogy.  I think the phone service is more
closely analogous to your internet connectivity than it is to the
domain name service.

Which also illustrates why analogies are such a sorry way of debating
the issues, I guess, there are almost always two or more ways of
interpreting every analogy to meet your own argument.
