>what's the point - unless you've got loads of time on your hands >even if its a valid mail & phone address - >*how do you know its not just a mail drop / answering service?*
You don't. But fixing the ones you CAN tell are bogus is a good start. >Then what happens if it's not a .com / .net. / .org domain Depends on the ccTLD >where would you get the info for microsoft.ie as even the Irish >whois.domainregistry.ie will not give you their own details because of >their data protection laws! The entire .ie ccTLD is presently listed in our database (as is .uk for that matter). >i presume that you will ask the Swiss government to supply their phone >numbers >for gov.ch Blocked. >or how about the Saudi's >for saudinic.net.sa Wasn't listed in our database, now it is (along with all of .sa since they don't have a whois server) >try looking at http://www.uwhois.com/cgi/whois.cgi for other ideas such as >gov.cn gov.cn is not actually a domain, it's where China delegates government domains from (e.g. foo.gov.cn) >gov.gr Greece, already listed. >gov.nl That says reserved, not that it's actually in use. Looks like it's similar to china (where .NL gov organizations would be foo.gov.nl) >gov.zm .ZM doesn't have a whois server. Like .SA, I just added it to our database. >or try the UK www.nic.uk to find out how not to contact >companieshouse.gov.uk As mentioned before, .UK has been listed for some time due to poor whois. >at least the Yanks appear to want to know who's traceing them >try cia.gov @ http://www.nic.gov/whois.html :-) I don't see anything wrong with that. The address might appear incomplete, but it's not uncommon for government agencies to have an entire ZIP code to themselves, thus having no need of a street address (the IRS has this all over the place).
