I see what it is.
For some reason I'm getting a response back from Tucows of "Can't get information on non-local domain"
on a domain that doesn't exist.
Typically, we were only seeing that response on .tv domains, so we were set to respond assuming that's what it was.

I'd have to see how your whois server works ...

Subject: WHOIS Strangeness

Hi,
I just got word that when a WHOIS search is done from our site against the Tucows server,
*.com lookups return the .tv error message about not being able to lookup .tv domains that
weren't registered via OpenSRS.
Anyone else seeing this? I tried it, and sure enough...

Planet Nic is unable to query for information on .tv domains that were not
registered via either Planet Nic or Tucows, inc. Please try your whois query at the dot.tv registry.

This was returned when doing a lookup for bogus-cards.com
