I am happy with downloading the zipped file and unpacking it on my system. But I am sure, that I would use the repository if it is available. I have doubts nonetheless, if it is easy to have all the mandatory extra files (hdlist.cz for Mandriva, don't know what kind of file the other distros need) that tell the user what is available in this repository.
