I'm not sure about that... Some forks are good, some are bad. It's the reasons that make them either good or bad, but the forks themselves aren't. In fact, the ability to fork is one of the great benefits of FOSS. OT: but, of course, numerous forks, like the uncontrolled growth which is cancer, is bad for the community, imo.
