With the big hosting sites, most of the time the takedown does not come via a C&D notice, but via an automated takedown by a bot that the hosting site has agreed to let roam on its servers. This has happened to Nina Paley, our artist-in-residence, several times. It's very frustrating to deal with (the takedowns were mistaken, but solving it without recourse to back doors & special contacts is very difficult). -Karl >________________________________________ >From: [email protected] >[[email protected]] On Behalf Of Jacob Henner >[[email protected]] >Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2012 12:58 AM >To: Discussion of Free Culture in general and this organization in particular >Subject: [FC-discuss] Article on Copyright Trolls from Penn Law > >https://www.law.upenn.edu/live/news/2254-the-trouble-with-copyright-trolls > >Cheers! >-- >Jacob Henner >Market and Social Systems Engineering (MKSE), class of 2016. >Engineering, at the University of Pennsylvania. >_______________________________________________ >Discuss mailing list >[email protected] >http://lists.freeculture.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss >FAQ: http://wiki.freeculture.org/Fc-discuss _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.freeculture.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss FAQ: http://wiki.freeculture.org/Fc-discuss
