With the big hosting sites, most of the time the takedown does not come
via a C&D notice, but via an automated takedown by a bot that the
hosting site has agreed to let roam on its servers.

This has happened to Nina Paley, our artist-in-residence, several times.
It's very frustrating to deal with (the takedowns were mistaken, but
solving it without recourse to back doors & special contacts is very
difficult).
