Yep.  They had an interesting idea, but probably not very practical, to rewrite 
huge chunks of illumos in erlang.  Ultimately that was far too large a job, 
without enough people contributing.  I don’t know erlang, but the idea of 
rewriting huge chunks of the OS into a non-systems language like erlang seems 
kind of iffy to me.  An interesting academic exercise perhaps, but probably 
difficult to see a lot of commercial merit in.  But again, I don’t know erlang, 
so maybe I’m speaking out of school.
