Yep. They had an interesting idea, but probably not very practical, to rewrite huge chunks of illumos in erlang. Ultimately that was far too large a job, without enough people contributing. I don’t know erlang, but the idea of rewriting huge chunks of the OS into a non-systems language like erlang seems kind of iffy to me. An interesting academic exercise perhaps, but probably difficult to see a lot of commercial merit in. But again, I don’t know erlang, so maybe I’m speaking out of school. - Garrett > > -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- > Version: GnuPG v1 > Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ > > iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJUYaBTAAoJECAB22fHtp27TjsH/2Bu7lhtq4rULW+89YdqjkvK > cWglFIXhCVqMAbTyPYLxGB84yknSMU+H3jRBWXOv72UBixpqenqNXqqSg9hLFmmm > jQWLKs7ARG6Ng5WM63GSN0I2O4K5Tits5pUEuX1+Cu+TJukgqGqsrIohEe8Y3xw6 > DezgXUFXAaDwuaVOzJdIB9aGsG13/TITVcPwsOKiDSVVue4qCCzyv7EdBB0K3g2R > EYcGlOlhRGXB8uWXUcojHv4keJ6DAo5rdt0lfHgBd/uUhXnXwmnIMgK3Lfr0EqVG > xBh5qFOQHWz3/T+ahSKmVS1EgYLZ3+Nfqjqpz/vTGLRTzvIkgmf+jaUD44r+21U= > =dY9K > -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------- illumos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/182180/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/182180/21175430-2e6923be Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21175430&id_secret=21175430-6a77cda4 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
