As suggested, I forked OI pkg5 and started building.
I had to update logilabs and simplejson, and then could go on up to "make
install" with no errors.
Now, running "make packages" I end up with pylint target error, but nothing
special is stated about the error:

Very strange, source version looked to be the same in my userland, but
resulting py code was not.
I had to repackage using OI logilab components

I have logilab commons 0.58.2 installed both on python 2.6 and 2.7 .
I see
import __builtin__ as builtins # 2to3 will tranform '__builtin__' to
'builtins'
in /usr/lib/python2.6/vendor-packages/logilab/common/compat.py
"from logilab.common.compat import builtins"
works in python2.6...
