Ours is not actually a fork, it's been an updated pull from Oracle repo until
2013-2014, then we stopped
and kept this working version until now.
So, we will be more than glad to start again pkg as a fork from omnios or oi
repo.
Questions:
- Do you think it's better to start from omnios or oi one?
- Will I need to rebuild my dev and release repos that were built with an old
pkgrepo and pkgrecv commands?
- What about pkg names? Will I end up with the same packages just updated?
Thanks!
Gabriele

I checked my source repo, and I see mine is coming from the oracle repo, and

Do you suggest to quit Oracle repo and move over to OI one by forking?
What about compatibility of all my dev and release repos and systems?
OI repository (https://github.com/OpenIndiana/pkg5) has some
illumos-specific fixes. We try work on IPS in cooperation with OmniOS
developers. You can see their fork at
https://github.com/omniti-labs/pkg5 . Of course, we would like XstreamOS
developers to join our efforts, but I can't suggest you to throw away
your fork.
Note, that our current IPS is a bit outdated (last resync with upstream
was last summer).
As for src/brand, it seems Oracle moved it somewhere in S11 days...
