Those changes look pretty good to me… since the behavior is optional, I see no
reason why we couldn't drive this into illumos as is.
I think we ultimately want to have a better solution at the sd layer to detect
and report (perhaps with a greylist) this information so that end users don't
have to muck with this so much. But that can be done later.
