2208 can't be reflashed to IT mode. That's either 2308 or 2008. We support
2208, but the chipset doesn't support raw disks, so I'd recommend against it.
I'd highly recommend an alternate mobo with a 2308 onboard, like this one:

The only downside to my recommendation is that it doesn't have onboard X540
10GigEs.
There appears to be only one SM mobo with both X540 and 2308, but it's a
bizarro formfactor.

It looks like Chris has flashed it, but it is probably better to stay
away from the 2208.
What form factor did you find the X540 and 2308? It doesn't even need
to be a dual socket machine.
