1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 -- subjective. Bad question, 'which is best'. Everyone's
going to have an opinion. I suspect most opinions may be in sync on answers
for 4, 5, and 6, but I bet you'll get an argument on 1, and possibly on 3.

You'll notice I didn't mention 2, because that one I can give you an
answer. None. Don't do it. Scale out, not up. If you're putting more than
probably 180 or so hard disks into a single system, you probably need to
re-evaluate what you're doing. There may be rare exceptions, such as deep
archival/cold storage, but even then, I question the necessity of sticking
it all in one system instead of spreading it out. At that size, the cost
delta of spreading it out (in the form of the additional server[s]) is
often fractions of a penny per GB, with all sorts of payback (lowered
failure domains, significantly improved performance, an overall ease of
administration despite increasing the number of OS' to manage, the list is
endless).
