Hi folks,
As of now, the official illumos IRC channel is #illumos on
irc.libera.chat. The #illumos-rust channel has moved there as well.
For many years we have been using the Freenode IRC network. As you
may have read in the news over the past fortnight, Freenode has
begun to disintegrate after a sudden change in ownership and the
management team.
The staff at Libera have been extremely helpful in getting us set
up, and the network appears stable. You can read more about Libera
and its policies at:
https://libera.chat/
The official OmniOS (#omnios) and SmartOS (#smartos) channels have
also been moved to Libera. I expect OpenIndiana to migrate soon as
well.
The gitomat bot has been migrated to the new channel. As an
official project space, our regular code of conduct for illumos
applies in the new channel in the same way it did on Freenode.
