You can see some of the work that was done on our ksh relatively
recently by Andy Fiddaman and the OmniOS folks:

There is an illumos-specific fork of the AST software toolkit, in
which we have maintained a series of local patches:

I believe we then import the relevant pieces into illumos-gate itself.
If you'd like to see some specific extra thing happen here, I'd
encourage you to reach out to the folks who have been doing recent
maintenance in that area!
