I am not yet fully acquainted with the "illumos" community (I used to be here quite some time back), so I don't know the kind of culture that exists here now. But, looking at the issue of using "ksh93u+m" instead of the internally cultivated one, I would say practicality suggests that we collaborate with the wider "ksh93u+m" community by contributing patches to it and then importing their sources regularly and frequently. I apologize for any disruption in the community's rhythm caused by my viewpoint, but thought it prudent to express it nevertheless. The way I see it, the project maintained at https://github.com/ksh93/ksh is always going to be more actively maintained with constant and consistent contributions from the community around it built up of people from OpenSUSE, Red Hat, Oracle and even individual contributors.
