[discuss] Illumos / OmniOS boot loader development?

I have been investigating OmniOS PXE Boot <https://github.com/omniosorg/kayak/issues/246> on EFI hardware and on a Hyper-V Generation 2 VM. Made some progress but not as far as a successful installation.

Is there any work in progress on secure boot and other boot loader features common in other OS distributions? The most recent approach I tried was using grub2 from Fedora Linux 38. I would be interested to know if anyone has taken it further.
