You currently can’t run illumos as a Hyper-V Gen2 VM. There’s a number of unique things a Gen2 VM must support that illumos currently does not.

Made some progress but not as far as a successful installation. Is there any work in progress on secure boot and other boot loader features common in other OS distributions? The most recent approach I tried was using grub2 from Fedora Linux 38. I would be interested to know if anyone has taken it further.
