Truncation probably wasn't the issue. Since, you mentioned that I also tried,
sudo dd bs=4M if=./OI-hipster-gui-20250606.usb of=/dev/sda status=progress conv=fsync earlier command was from openindiana documentation for installation. So, I am running this on my Linux system to prepare live usb images. Both version of dd led to same thing ( restart and corrupt the bootable USB). I tried different type of images and then usb images from past archives. Eventually, while tinkering on BIOS I found ways to disable some system components. I disabled most of those parts except external USB. Voila! Text version booted just fine. It even tried to load the GUI. However, after few seconds, it showed, nvidia_modeset: [ID ..... kern.notice] Unloading As a result of that, graphical login failed! (screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/4OZGcK8 ) However, I am super happy and already uplifted in heaven just to see the text mode boot (SunOS 5.11 :) ) and login being successful on this laptop! 😇 Nvidia GPU Details: [GeForce RTX 4060 Max-Q / Mobile] (rev a1) / NVIDIA AD107M ------------------------------------------ illumos: illumos-discuss Permalink: https://illumos.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/Te6ca52e0e174d9c5-M924ddf834f64a05e33ad8dc1 Delivery options: https://illumos.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/subscription
