If you don't see your city on the map, you can make it show up by entering your location on your profile page. I update the map with new locations about once a week.
Also, if anyone has expertise with Google Maps, and would like to help optimize/extend our map send an e-mail to volunteer at ixda.org. Right now you can kind of tell relative numbers by looking at how dark the shadow is for a particular city (the markers just stack up on top of one another).
