It would definately come down to your use of it however. Personally, the "skip intro" is the first thing i look for.
If you feel it's relevant.. then, however you decide to incorporate it (intro or part of the site).. make sure it loads quickly.. and make sure it has purpose. There's nothing wrong with using flash this way and in the right circumstances it can be quite effective and useful.. however the whole intro thing is feeling a little (actually, very) stale.
