I'm not sure about localization... I personally prefer to work in the
product native language ( (for Dutch, English, French or Italian
environments) or in the English environment (for languages I didn't mention,
because I don't know them).
I even sometimes  prefer English over Dutch if my aim is international even
if the product I'm using has Dutch as their main language...

English is now the de facto lingua franca of the world.

My point is the silly question if localization is a good idea at all... it's
costly and like using a service from outside the geocenter means people are
interested in breaking out of their language boundaries (glocality) it might
be quite stupid to impose a local language upon them...

When I turn to Google for news, I'm perfectly willing to get English
language news about Belgium and I quite frankly hate it that I can't get
this...

Beside living in Belgium is a problem for sites like we have three national
languages (Dutch 60 %, French 39% and German 1% of the population) ...
