Perficient is looking for a dynamic, creative, and passionate interaction
designer to work within a user experience team on an exciting project in
the oil industry in Houston, TX. The candidate must live in or near the
Houston, TX area. The interaction designer will work within a highly
collaborative cross-functional project team in an agile-like environment to
help redesign 3 existing applications into one state-of-the-art desktop
application.
The interaction designer will contribute to the user experience vision and
strategy, and, following a user-centered design process, will be
responsible for:
Analyzing and interpreting existing data to build user experience
requirements
Iteratively creating and refining low to mid-fidelity design concepts
for the information architecture, navigational models, process flows,
page layout, information displays, and interactional components based
on user research
Planning and conducting necessary user research to support design
decisions
Defining patterns to maintain consistency across the application and
for future developments
Required:
Minimum 4 years experience designing applications following
user-centered design principles
Strong understanding of User-Centered Design Methodology and Human
Factors Principles
Ability to understand and translate usability research findings into
design solutions
Experience creating low-fidelity to mid-fidelity prototypes using
Visio, Axure, iRise or equivalent tool
Demonstrated ability to define strategic and complex transactional
interfaces that support the business and user needs while remaining
within the bounds of the selected technologies
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional team
Ability to meet deadlines and proficiency with time management
Ability to sell ideas and strong negotiation skills
Strong communication skills
Undergraduate or Graduate degree in HCI, Interaction Design, Product
Design, Design, or related field
Portfolio required
Experience with (preferred):
Performing UX research a strong plus (task analysis, contextual
inquiry, usability evaluations, competitive usability evaluations,
developing personas, etc.)
Designing in an agile environment
Working in oil industry
designing for Windows desktop applications – 2007 preferably
designing for a global population with an understanding of
internationalization requirements
Microsoft Expression Studio (Blend and Design)
.NET Framework 3.5 and WPF
information design particularly related to visualization of complex
data sets, graphs, tables, etc. (2D and/or 3D)
creating and documenting design guidelines/patterns and UI
specifications
researching and designing information architecture
Technical writing a plus
