If you have a good relationship with the representative at the bigger
third parties they /will/ sell you the hardware at their cost if you
buy their in-house warranty instead of Applecare.  That's
significantly more than a 1% or 2% discount.  They'll do that because
the profit margin on their in-house warranties are higher than selling
Apple's stuff.  It may take some wheeling-and-dealing to do it, but
they'll budge.  Especially if it means beating the direct from Apple
quote.

Bonus: Some CDW/PCConnection warranties include accidental protection
while also costing less.  Applecare doesn't include accidental --
ever.

CDW, et al, will also register their in-house warranty on your
equipment so you don't have to. Time/hassle saved.
