Someone else already mentioned the Dallas one-wire sensors, they're great and
easy to setup and use.

I haven't played with them, but Smarthome (smarthome.com) now sells CAO
Gadget's ( http://www.caogadgets.com/) wireless sensors and the receiver you
need to use them. I've been considering getting a few for home to monitor some
of the areas of the house where it's tough to run a cat5 cable for the
one-wire sensors.
