Perhaps a more apt comparison would be the "profession" of being a manager. There are and skills and best practices and whether and how they are applied depends a lot on the institution where the professional works. There are degrees and certifications but no standardized test or accrediting body that is globally recognized. In dire cases the professional is held accountable but not legally liable.
