Great!
I got one at $WORK about 1 1/2 years ago. I never want to use a
seated-only desk again. It took about a week to get used to it. For a
few months I used a shell script to remind me to stand up (set to pop
up a reminder at about $HOUR:45, +/- a random factor to keep it from
getting predictable, with a reminder 15 minutes later to sit down, +/-
a random factor)...ask me off the list for a copy.
Now, I typically come into the office and begin my day standing for at
least an hour, then sit and stand periodically for 1/2hr+ during the
rest of the day.
I got the Ergotron Workfit-S LCD and Laptop Sit-Stand Workstation. I really
like:
quick, non-destructive, tool-less, non-marring installation
on a standard desk (office-furniture friendly, portable)
economical
the relationship between the keyboard & monitor[s] is constant
regardless of the position (seated, standing at any height)
lots of adjustment (keyboard height, position of monitor &
laptop tray)
very sturdy -- I typically raise/lower it about 10x daily
The 'mouse tray' next to the keyboard would probably be too small for
anyone who uses a mouse...but it's fine for my trackball.

Will the MacBook be open (3 monitors) or closed?

Yes. Don't have a monitor sitting on the desk. It will be unusable
when you're standing, and having different setups (1 or 2 desk surface
monitors, one monitor that elevates) will be difficult & frustrating,
making it likely that you won't use the standing feature as much.
