Unfortunately, it is a feature specific to virtual machines.

For real servers, you either need to setup serial console capability (vendor dependant BIOS feature) or use a KVM-IP (vendor neutral).

I have used "PC Weasel" in the passed, but it looks like they are not around anymore.
