It's still a really good idea, I just don't believe that computers are
quite deterministic enough :)

Maybe if you knew in advance the SNs of all the disks (barcodes?) or
WWNs or something?  [I don't have this data for most of the systems I
have now, but having had it before... it's super useful for tracking.]
