Thanks for putting forward that nomination Tim, you beat me to it :) I had a chance to catch up with jj0hns0n at foss4g and hear a little bit about his vision and passion for our organization. As has already been noted Jeff is known for two things in our community: extensive outreach/advocacy and direct open source leadership. It is this balance of experience as a candidate that makes me happy to recommend him.
Jeff goes way back with our community, starting with grass in 2003 as an undergrad. Working with OpenGeo and now with his own consulting shop ( terranodo.io) doing core development. He is most well known for his work with the world bank, providing a constant stream new faces on social media as he sets up teams around the world with workshops and code sprints. The one-two-punch of both foss4g usage and open source mentorship is exactly the kind of advocacy that benefits OSGeo. (opendri.org, codeforresilience.org, etc...) Since I tend to focus on projects, it is really important to highlight his role as GeoNode core committer and project lead (geonode.org). The hands on experience of going through OSGeo incubation, and releasing open source software provides an important perspective on the work required here at OSGeo. You can also watch his passion on the open data front, in particular using open data and access to information to facilitate political involvement and change in his local community (opensandiego.org, wherecamp.org, codeforamerica.org). I am glad Jeff accepted the nomination, please take a moment click on some of the links above, and consider Jeff when it comes time to vote. -- Jody Garnett On 14 September 2016 at 08:48, Tom Kralidis <tomkrali...@gmail.com> wrote: > I second Tim's nomination.
