So it seems that we need an annual financial report, and we need to have a 
clear idea of what we want to use the money for. "Ongoing operational costs" is 
not applicable; but improvements are. We need to very strongly describe our 
community involvement and what we give back to the membership/community.

I think that with some planning we could put together a persuasive application 
package, if we have some members committed to working through this. Who is 
willing to meet about this next Tuesday, after the meeting, at the boardroom 
table? I'm proposing we go through the checklist and see what we need.

Jay, do we have an annual financial statement? Would you be able to draft one 
up for us?

Would anyone be interested in selling stuff? It's not like you have to go door 
to door: just bring samples to work/school and take orders.

What about a bingo? We never did one 'cause we needed an official electrical 
estimate before. Do we have one now?

What about a social? Holding one at a community centre maximizes profit, but 
takes lots of volunteers. Holding one at a bar let's you make money from the 
tickets sold (not drinks), but utterly minimizes the work required.

Short of physically removing the appliances in the kitchen, they will 
undoubtedly continue to be used. With that in mind, Jay's suggestion that we 
upgrade that outlet to GFI is reasonable. The cost of the outlet itself is 
minimal, and will improve safety.

I think we should assume the worst case - that the landlord won't pay for any 
of these repairs. If Ian gets us a credit towards our rent later, that's great.

The last number I heard last night for electrical work was $2000, I think. How 
quickly can we raise this, and when can we get the work done?
