Yes, I've built and used cantennas in a production environment.
Don't do it unless you can't afford to buy a proper outdoor PtP bridge unit 
and/or proper directional antennas 
Also, because you only have one *radio*, you can't really split the chains that 
way... You need to dedicate a bridge at each end to the PtP link, even if one 
of the antennas just gets disconnected and not used.
If you just want 11Mbit, there are plenty of good solutions that don't cost 
very much and will work much more reliably.
