Actually, there are rather a lot of FreeBSD people in Winnipeg. Most of them are embedded and don't socialize or communicate with the local IT community, however.
Also, Theo started OpenBSD as a fork of NetBSD; most FreeBSD people won't even know him. Surprisingly, there's a decent amount of OpenBSD use here as well - I know 4 people off the top of my head who use it regularly, including two who actually use it as a desktop from time to time. Regardless, Theo is supposed to be an interesting speaker, and he's got technical chops (mostly in defensive coding, IMHO) to rival most of SkSp put together. MUUG (www.muug.mb.ca) is sponsoring the event, which means there'll be some free food. (Don't know what exactly we're paying for yet, since Jay @ King's Head is remarkably difficult to get hold of...) It's the day before bSides (AFAIK), come down and hear him if you've got the time. -Adam Thompson [email protected] [email protected] wrote: >OMG guess who's coming to town?
