L2TP/IPSec. Works on everything out of the box. Linux, Android, iOS, Windows. 
No client software to install. 

Pain to troubleshot though.

As Adam said, nginx is also in the base install. And I've used it as a router, 
proxy, and a bunch of stuff, but I became tired of my ancient hardware dying or 
the file system corrupting, so now it's just VPN and DNS.

Most people use it for network hardware.

I've also used it for it's weird support for things like 1-wire bus temperature 
sensors.
