I suggest moving this discussion to the plugin list/forum

Quick pointer - could you make sure alienbbc_0.97.windows.zip is extracted into C:\ProgramFiles\SlimServer\server (as it contains the relavent directories and also contains files which must go in the server root directory.)

If it does not work please post the output when you start the server with --d_remotestream --d_source when you try to play something.

Subject: [slim] Alien BBC on Win2k. Frustrated!

I'm not having much success getting AlienBBC to work on a Windows 2000 SP4 box.

Running the following:

Slimserver 6.01

MPlayer-mingw32-1.0pre6.zip extracted into C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

windows-all-20050412.zip codecs extracted into C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\codecs

alienbbc_0.97.windows.zip extracted into C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\Plugins\Alien

I also have lame.exe and lame_enc.dll extracted into C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\Bin, for what it's worth (a suggestion from
this forum, rather than any documented installation procedure).

Currently, I get the Alien option on my Squeezebox (SB1), and a long
list of available stations and programmes to listen to, but when I try
to play I get 'Connecting...' followed by an error that I can't read
(possibly something about 'server connection') immediately followed by
'Connecting...' again. Nothing ever plays.

All other radio plugins provided with Slimserver are working fine (ie
no network problems).

Very grateful for any suggestions...

Chippy
