I've also experienced the reboot problem with exactly the same symptoms as those described in this thread. In general, the music suddenly stops, the squeezebox reboots and then the song starts from the beginning again. It's not always random as occasionally, the squeezebox reboots at exactly the same spot in the song. On these occasions, I suspect an encoding or decoding glitch is responsible, but although the same song will go down at the same time on two or more consecutive occasions, the same tracks will play just fine on many other occasions. That coupled with the usually random nature of the reboots suggests a server-side or data transmission error. The tracks that occasionally cause these reboots are all VBR encoded (alt-preset normal LAME).
On the server side (5.4.1 running on Mac OS 10.2.8), I frequently get crashes, particularly when browsing long lists of albums/songs while the squeezebox is receiving a stream. Much less frequently when the box is idle. But all in all, the software is normally quite stable and I can listen for hours before encountering a reboot or server crash. I did try the 6.0beta a few weeks ago, but the server crashed immediately on streaming every time, so I went back to 5.4.1.
