next up: are the FLAC files on a local drive? SYSTEM only has permissions to local resources. so, FLAC files on a network share could have SYSTEM/read set correctly, but that is another instance of SYSTEM.
something to try: set up a service/user account for SlimServer and run under this context. you can adjust security appropriate to the need and not have to live under the strictures of SYSTEM. and it allows for future expansion of the music library onto non-local fileservers.
