I think another item that was in the thought process at Slim Devices
was that most people today either have an old PC laying about doing
nothing or at least enough spare parts to build one without buying many
new parts.

The Linux site sells barebone Linus machines for under $300 and
Wal-Mart sell one for under $200 that just needs another memory stick
and larger drive(s). The Everex gPC2 TC2512 from Wal-Mart comes with
everything but a monitor and printer. I don't need a printer for a
music server and once up and running I don't need a monitor either.
Granted it is not a machine for a 6000 CD library, but it would work
for most folks. $200 is hard to compete with or I would be selling
Music Servers!
