This is a firmware & hardware difference so the SBB can act as alarm clock even if it's disconnected from SC/SN. There's even a small battery inside which will power a "backup clock" and eventually trigger alarms scheduled for the next time. AFAIR the SBB has some sound samples in the firmware for this purpose
