I'd recommend the 'Advanced Admin Console' WHS Add-In. It installs as an extra tab and has shortcuts for 'My Computer', 'Administrative Tools' (which includes 'Services') etc. Also lets you add your own shortcuts. For SC install, I go in through the Console, navigate to the correct shared folder and double-click the install file.
