So one registration is good for one total squeezebox system. That sounds reasonable. In my mind you should be very careful not to bug your real/loyal users with a complicated registration system. A lot of software does that to the extend that even registrered users run the crack to avoid the hassle. Your above suggestion could work completely transparent though.
