no THAT might explain A LOT. i use the GTune3b2 vorbis encoder, whose bitrate envelope is quite different from the reference decoder's. GTune3b2 will allocate MANY more bits/s on transients and high-frequency passages than the reference. if all the assumptions sync does are based on the reference - no wonder.
