I am assuming it's a wireless SB3? My recollection is a number of similar failures have been due to problems with the wireless card. You might try removing the card and see if it comes to life. If you need to run wireless, I recall there was a thread a few months back where what was thought to be a compatible wireless card was identified... or if you run wired it really wouldn't be a problem.
