You can have a cable longer than 300 feet. There is no guarantee that you'll achieve maximum data transfer speeds though. I assume the only thing connected to the cable will be the SB. If that is the case, you shouldn't have any problems. Especially if you keep the cable away from power lines and other stuff that might interfere with the signal. You could also make two 300 foot cables and use a repeater to connect them.
